Computerizing Handwritings: Current Approaches on Historical Documents
The doctoral workshop “Computerizing Handwritings: Current Approaches on Historical Documents” will take place in Basel on June 27. Gathering specialists from Switzerland (four presentations from Basel University, two from Fribourg) and Europe (Germany, Nederland and France), it will offer the opportunity for ten doctoral students and researchers to present their ongoing projects in the field of Historical Documents Analysis and exchange upon their approaches, methodologies and expected output. In this time of Digital revolution, where new algorithms and processes appear and develop extremely fast, it is crucial to maintain regular exchange between scholars with common research interest. Specifically focusing on papyrology and ancient manuscript studies, this workshop will promote fruitful discussions between experts from Humanities and Computer Sciences.
